1. Drama Classes

In order to provide make putting English Language into practice possible, the English Department has designed drama classes for all S.1 students. At the end of the year, they also have the chance to perform the play they have been working on throughout the year.

2. Phonics and English Foundation 

Phonics teaching and learning is made possible through Teenage Stories, which help develop reading and language basics including:
 

  • Phonics knowledge;

  • Vocabulary learning – decoding strategies;

  • Basic sentence and grammar awareness;

  • Pronunciation accuracy from phoneme accuracy.

3. Literacy and Language Appreciation

Integrated reading program is employed to replace tradition textbooks. The program features:
 

  • An interactive online and e-learning program to be used by teachers to enhance students' individual learning and classroom teaching;

  • Worksheets that help students comprehend the texts;

  • A minimum of 10 pieces of literature for the whole class to explore (and more for those of higher ability)

  • Levelled Readers, across genres, a variety of topics;

  • Online access – teachers can assign homework online and this is recorded by the interactive platform.

Supplementary classes

To familiarize newly arrived children with a vibrant English learning environment in CSA, the English department provides them with after-class tutorials as a supplement to the formal curriculum. Qualified tutors are assigned to conduct the lessons and all teaching materials are tailored to students’ needs.

Apart from these courses, elite and remedial classes are also arranged to ensure efficient teaching and learning in CSA.
